Deborah K. Shepherd

Before her retirement in 2014, Deborah K. Shepherd was the director of a domestic violence program in central Maine. Both of her books, a novel, So Happy Together, and a memoir, An Old Man’s Darling,were published when she was in her 70s.Her essays have appeared in Oldster Magazine (twice); Fauxmoir; Motherwell Magazine; Eat, Darling,Eat; Persimmon Tree and more. Her Covid-themed essay was a winner in the Center for Interfaith Relations 2020 Sacred Essay Contest. She holds a BFA in drama from the University of Arizona and an MSW from Fordham University. Deborah is the mother of two adult children and grandmother of two, and lives with one husband and one sweet jaunty rescue dog.
