Born on March 8th 1957 on the Isle of man, Vincent Erwin Kneale. seventh of eight children to Clifford & Patrica Kneale. Vincent only started writing following the death of his father in 1998. Discovering poetry quite by chance, as a form of writing that suited the recording and re-telling of old stories and tall tails once regaled by his father. Vincent, or "Vinty " as he has been known as since he was a dot, grew up in Sulby in the parish of Lezayre , being from a large family, with his mother also fostering, adopting and caring for other children there was seldom a time that was quiet or without fun, a sense of fun that clearly comes across in his work along with a sense of care and wonderment.
Being from the Isle of Man, the home of motor sport, he has always had an interest in both 2 and 4 wheels, and has been keen motorcyclist from an early age, as are his 5 brothers. Vinty had not set out to be a poet, nor had he in mind to be a performance poet, only when it was pointed out by a fellow poet "Jane Holland" "if you don't want to be a performing poet! Why do you write performance poetry? "a fair point! and so over the years he has performed his work both on and off Island, Jane now refers to him mostly as "The performing Vinty Kneale!" take that how you will.
Vinty left his beloved Isle of Man in 2008 in the quest for love and now lives in the lake district with his partner Mary and their 2 children. He has published three books in total with hopefully more to follow. He writes in a style that still shows the love he has for the past and the cherished memories of an Island and people he loves.
