Krishnamurthy is a community health specialist, active in the public health and development space for around two decades. His program and research interests revolve around quality of care, quality of life and wellbeing. He has experience working in the context of reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health (RMNCH), infectious diseases, early childhood development (ECD), Primary Health Care, Non communicable diseases (NCD) and Nutrition.
Currently he works as Dean of Faculty of Life and Allied Health Sciences at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, he supports multidisciplinary research and academic initiatives in the space of public health, allied health and life sciences. He holds part-time faculty position with the department of Community Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, Canada. In the past, he was a part of the global health team of University of Manitoba and was extensively involved in its projects across India, Africa and Caribbean. Currently he is on the senior advisory team of Karnataka Health Promotion Trust and also the site coordinator for a Global Health Training Program, that trains PhD and postdoctoral fellows from across four countries, India, Canada, Kenya and Columbia.
Krishnamurthy has been a volunteer at Heartfulness Institute, a meditation trainer and practitioner over 20 years. He is an advocate of yoga and natural living. His keen interest and passion in exploring benefits of meditation, yoga and natural living, for community health and wellbeing, led him to establish the Center for Integrative Health and Wellbeing few years ago. Here, he guides and mentors a multidisciplinary team of Ayurveda physicians, Yoga and Meditation instructors as well as Health Educators to support clients in adopting an integrative approach to lifestyle. He is also fascinated by the recent discoveries in the field of neurosciences and their implications for health, education and development. As research advisor at Cognitive Skills Pvt Ltd, he supports neurosciences research related to child development, learning and performance and helping the company to develop its interventions and programs.
He completed MD in Community Medicine from Bangalore, received training in research methods at W.H.O, Geneva and also holds a post-doctoral research fellowship from Canada.
