Tom Kapanka was born in Port Huron, Michigan. He and his wife Julie now live in Spring Lake, Michigan, and are both full-time educators. They and their three daughters (and their families) all call West Michigan home. Tom taught high school and college speech, literature, writing, journalism, and drama for twenty years. In 1999, he transitioned from the classroom to school leadership, a role he continues to enjoy. Through the years, he has written collections of poetry, short stories, essays, and biographical prose enjoyed by many readers at Patterns of Ink (patternsofink.blogspot.com).
