Shubham Jain

Shubham Jain was born and brought up in Saharanpur, a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. He belongs to a family in which the past five paternal generations have established various businesses, ranging from manufacturing automobile parts to pre-fabricated iron structures used to construct factories in a matter of days. Inspired by his virtuous father, Shubham ventured into entrepreneurship as early as in his second year of college at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. He graduated as Bachelor of Design in 2014 and since then, has been residing in Bangalore, India — the start-up capital of the country.

He is the former co-founder and CEO at GrabOnRent, a company that provided thousands of urban-migrants in India with the ease of subscribing to household goods such as furniture, electronics, and fitness equipment through a disruptive subscription model. He envisions a sustainable future for developing-nations where shared resources lead the consumption patterns without further indebting the nature. In the last five years of operations, he has successfully closed multiple rounds of investments in equity and debt. His company has catered to nearly seventy thousand migrants across four metropolitan cities.

He has experienced the sinusoidal peaks and troughs of emotions while launching and running his start-up. While he persevered to overcoming obstacles in scaling the business, recurring defeats languished his mental health during the lowest lows. In his attempt to rebound, he opened up to several other CEOs and learned that he wasn’t alone. All leaders have their share of unrest, and what matters the most is preparation. He finds it incorrect to say that an entrepreneurial journey is not exciting, but it is also wrong not to prepare oneself to confront the brutal challenges it’ll wreak. He mentors several start-ups, helping first-time CEOs to accomplish what they have set out to achieve.
