Lawrence Daniel Devoe

Lawrence Daniel Devoe was born. in Chicago, Illinois, and received his B.A. in Anthropology from Harvard University and his M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Devoe completed his further training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the Chicago Lying-In Hospital. During his medical career spanning 50 years, he attended the births of more than 10,000 babies and published more than 250 scientific papers. Currently, Dr. Devoe serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Reproductive Medicine. He is also a professional journalist who has reviewed audio and video components, films, classical music recordings and live performances for several entertainment magazines. In 1983, Dr. Devoe had the presence of mind to move to Augusta, Georgia, the city in which he married a native Southerner. Dr. Devoe also has had the good sense that God gave him never to move back to the North.
