Jon A Herrin

While born in south Alabama, Herrin left the US as he was turning four-years-old. His parents--missionaries--raised him and his brothers in Guyana, South America, and on the island of Grenada in the West Indies. After coming the US when he was turning 17-years-old, he studied English in university (B.A., M.A.T.). While in graduate school the first time around, Jon met his wife, Jeanne. From grad school, Herrin went on to become an Asst. Prof. of English.

While being a life-long educator in higher education (college, university, seminary), Herrin is also an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. Having studied theology and the Bible extensively (M.T.S., M.Div., Th.M., Th.D.), he enjoys teaching and preaching in the Church and the Academy. In addition to serving as a pastor presently, he is also a lecturer at the University of Texas--Rio Grande Valley and is an Assoc. Prof. of Biblical Studies in a regional seminary. Jon's calling is to help others to know God and to live life with joy.

With his wife and three children, Herrin lived and served in both Venezuela and Mexico over the course of seven years in international mission service. Jon and his wife have settled in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, on the US/Mexico border, where they love the culture, the food, the climate...and the slower speed of life.

Herrin's hobbies and happy places include theology, teaching, hiking, wood-working, and espresso.
