“I’m not a writer,” I used to say. Yes, I do like to write stories and journals and participate in NaNoWriMo but I never considered myself a serious writer. It wasn’t until I started joining writing groups and getting to know others with the same passion that I realized we are all a little humble where our writing is concerned, not easily accepting praise and not always welcome of criticism but these groups are just what I needed to get my confidence up in order to continue. Reading a story in front of a group of strangers was absolutely terrifying but now it’s easy when done among friends.
