Sivaramakrishnan M. Mangalam was born to Hindu parents, and educated in institutions established by Christian missionaries, Muslim kings and Zoroastrian philanthropists. He practiced zazen in a Japanese Zen monastery in Sogenji. Professionally, he has a Ph.D. in Mechanics and Mathematics from Moscow State University. He has patents and publications in aerospace and translated seven books from Russian to English. He conducted research for NASA, DoD, aircraft companies, and sailboat teams that won the America’s Cup. He was a USTA-certified tennis umpire. His community services in coordination with local churches for racial integration were recognized by the Mayor of the City of Hampton.
