Chuck Klenzing Stewart

Chuck K. Stewart, Ph.D., is an independent researcher and writer on many topics. His published works at ABC-CLIO include: “Gender and Identity Around the World” (2020), “Documents of the LGBT Movement” (2018); “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Americans at Risk” (2018) (WINNER of the 2018 American Book Fest best book award in the category of LGBTQ Non-fiction) ; “Proud Heritage: People, Issues, and Documents of the LGBT Experience” (2014); “Greenwood Encyclopedia of LGBT Issues Worldwide” (2009); “Issues in Focus— Understanding Controversy and Society” (2006, 2010); “Gay and Lesbian Issues— A Contemporary Resource” (2003); and “Homosexuality and the Law” (2001). For SAGE Publications he wrote “Sexually Stigmatized Communities— Reducing Heterosexism and Homophobia: An Awareness Training Manual” (1999) that was used to create training programs used by the Los Angeles Police Academy and many other police departments. Stewart also publishes the legal self-help book— “How to Bankrupt Your Student Loans and Other Discharge Strategies” (2020)— besides, books and training manuals on environmental issues in residential real estate. He won the David Cameron Legal Research Award besides many other grants. Stewart holds a doctorate in Education with certificate in Women’s Studies from the University of Southern California. His first degrees were in physics, math, and engineering, and worked for many years in aerospace. He has taught at all levels of education and currently teaches math and statistic courses for National University. Surprisingly, he was a classical ballet dancer for twenty-five years and for the past twenty years has taught ballroom and western dancing to the gay and lesbian community. He founded and guided Out Dancing Ballroom from 2000 to 2006; a LA dance troupe dedicated to same-sex couple ballroom dancing.
