William A. Pease

Poetry has long provided, William Pease, with a source of fascination and comfort. “My mom love to read and endowed her children with her love of books and thirst for knowledge. As a youngster, I would climb upon her lap in the evening to listen to her read the written works of the Hoosier Poet. From that point on, I was hooked.”

Pease has been writing poetry and songs sporadically since grade school. He began in earnest on the first of January 2020. “I made a New Year’s resolution to write a poem each day. So far, so good. He deems his current writing as an experiment and an adventure.

“To me, writing poetry is a great way to express, my moods and feelings,” says Pease. “Being able to share this with others is a plus.”

Pease has earned accolades at community poetry contests and had his works published in newsletters and magazines both online and print.

Serving as National Service Officer for Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) since the beginning of 2018, this is but the latest chapter in Pease’s 47-year journey “to assisting veterans, families and communities.”

Pease has served as a Jails/Veteran Coordinator for a behavioral health provider, a case manager/counselor for community outreach, and the Vice-President of Outreach Operations for SportsWorld, Inc., an active sports ministry Sports World that sends former professional athletes to share personal life experiences with students, helping them to recognize the consequences of their choices while challenging them with The Message of Hope.

Pease was employed for 23 years with The American Legion National Headquarters and served in a number of positions, to include: Director of both the Americanism/Children & Youth and Fundraising Divisions, and Executive Secretary for the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.

On active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973 to 1980, Pease retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2006. He is a life member of The American Legion and a member of the Sons of The American Legion. Pease belongs to Marine Corps League and the Association of the U.S. Army.

He earned degrees from San Diego Community College and Chapman University and holds Certificates in Fund Raising Management and Nonprofit Executive Leadership from Indiana University.

Pease, active in his community, has held leadership positions in the Rotary, Jaycees, Sertoma, The American Legion, Elks, Boy Scouts and his local church. Pease and his wife, Cheryl, have two sons, Colin and Christopher.
