Robin Somes

Robin Somes is a marine biologist and ecologist by day, occasionally veering off into writing, editing and publishing, usually in the wee small hours. Born on the Isle of Wight, he has lived most of his life on the southern coast of Hampshire, between the New Forest and the Solent waters, and has always found the natural world a profound influence. His spare time pursuits are primarily photography, boating, research and writing, as well as winemaking and playing fingerstyle acoustic guitar.

He has spent many years researching the history of the various branches of his family, including the Yarmouth Smiths, and is not much closer to understanding all of them than when he first started. However, it passes the time, and he expects to get the hang of it any day now.
