Erika J. Gibson is a children’s book author, who has a passion for children and is an advocate for quality early childhood education. Erika earned a Master of Education degree in School Psychology from Howard University and has worked directly and indirectly with children and early care educators, where she noticed a lack of diversity in children’s books and educational resources.
To directly address the under-representation of children of color in books, Erika began her journey to writing and publishing chidren's books. Additionally, she started her own agency, Black Diamond Publishing, where as a publishing consultant, she aims to help aspiring authors publish diverse books of their own.
Erika intends to diversify print literature one book at a time to empower, inspire, encourage, educate, and instill hope in all children. As an author, it is important to Erika that her books represent diversity and inclusion, where children can see themselves in the characters.
Erika is also the founder of Leading Leaders Early Childhood Consulting, where she provides coaching, consulting, and training to early care educators and child care programs to ensure quality and equitable care for young learners.
