Mark Rusin

MARK RUSIN was born and raised on the south side of Chicago where he attended first Our Lady of the Snows Grammar School and then Quigley South High School. He went on to Western Illinois University graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement Administration.

From a young age, Mark dreamed first about playing professional hockey for his hometown Blackhawks and second about being a cop.

His second dream came true when on January 16, 1980 he was sworn in as a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer. There he gained his street Masters Degree over the next four years and his most memorable police calls and stories are contained in his forth-coming book: METRO: Sin City Chronicles. His first published article appeared in the 2005 Las Vegas Review Journal regarding the 25th anniversary of the MGM Grand Hotel fire in November, 1980. Mark who was a rookie officer at that time was assigned to pull dead bodies from the hotel.

Mark left the Las Vegas Metro Police Force in December 1983 for “greener pastures” and a Federal Badge with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF.)

Mark retired from Federal Service in March 2007 and currently resides in Tucson, Arizona. He spends his time writing, golfing and still dreaming about some day playing for his Chicago Blackhawks.
