Vivian Chern is a self-taught gardener, photographer, author, wife, mom, scholar, and creative home chef. If she is not busy with teaching, gardening, or cooking, you can find her with her family snowboarding at Lake Tahoe or paddle boarding in Hawaii. Previous to family life, she graduated from UCLA with a Masters in Epidemiology, and dedicated seven years to a doctorate program for Community Health. She spent over a decade in healthcare-related professions before diving into the garden and building a 2000 sq-foot elementary school garden -- complete with composting worm bins, orchard, and several raised beds -- wherein she taught children at school how to grow and cook food. These efforts inspired The Greener Seed, an online resource to reach a broader audience wanting to learn how to grow their own food.
