Isabel Davis

Working as an illustrator, author and teacher keeps Isabel as busy as a bee. She studied art at Sir John Cass Art School, London, and has been a practising artist for many years, exhibiting in London and the Middle East. She is also an educator (PGCE, University of Sunderland) with many years experience of curriculum development and teaching children from diverse multi-cultural backgrounds and first languages. When she isn't writing or illustrating or teaching, you may find her belting out a tune on her saxophone, or simply enjoying a walk in the countryside or her local park.

Isabel is passionate about education, nature and the protection of our precious environment. She follows Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, and her all-time hero is Sir David Attenborough. She combines her passion for art, teaching and the environment by writing and illustrating books for children, particularly early years children. She says, "I want to help children grow educationally, emotionally and creatively and to enjoy the experience of reading and being read to." She wants her stories to empower children, promote independent learning and help them to communicate with each other, adults and the wider environment.

The story of Froggit Froggins explores the issues of friendship, sharing and teamwork. Children are shown that they are never too small to make a difference. It also shows us the innocence and vulnerability of animals, and addresses issues of conservation, recycling, reusing and reducing waste, and the need to protect our environment and the animals in it. It encourages children to think about how they can help, even though they are small.

At the end of the book there are some great discussion questions for parents and teachers about the story, conservation and the environment. For more information go to www.pigeonscratchproductions.com
