Born in 1946 in San Antonio, into a military family of young Southern Texas parents. Tobin had learned
from an incredibly young age to be responsible, resourceful, and creative with all the challenges sent to
her.
She moved twenty times before graduating from high school, attended five grammar schools and three
high schools. Never stayed anywhere long enough to keep her potential friends or even to make them.
Her working years were just about the same as her school years, various and unstable. Became an
airline stewardess with Eastern Air Lines in 1966 at 20 years of age. At 21 moved up to the position of
In-flight Supervisor and at 24 joined Exxon an American international oil and gas corporation, as an
administrative supervisor providing secretarial support to 500 technical engineers.
She first married at the age of 24 to a man ten years her senior and stayed in that relationship for a
long, long 24 years.
She became an artist at the age of 33, painting inspiring watercolors from various places she lived or
traveled to. She had multiple successful shows in NJ, Utah, Vermont, and now Florida.
Her life was stressful with huge disappointments, but she never lost hope. She was grateful to be alive
but lowered her expectations to zero.
Through her remarkable perseverance and resilience, she was able to thrive and begin again. She has
been married to her husband Bob, an amazing man, for 21 years. Between the two of them, they have
five children (4 are Bob’s) and nine grandchildren (3 are Susan’s and 6 are Bob’s), and a very cute, loving
dog named Allie.
Life is wonderful and she enjoys every minute of living in beautiful Sarasota and is filled with gratitude.
