Don Macdonald

I was born and raised in Winnipeg and started my professional journalism career at the Winnipeg Free Press. I went on to work at the Canadian Press wire service in Winnipeg, Montreal and Quebec City, and then at the Montreal Gazette where I wrote investigative pieces on white collar crime, and travelled to the U.S., Latin America and China.

My first novel, Omand’s Creek, was an Amazon bestseller that the Montreal Gazette praised as “the best Canadian crime debut in recent memory.” It was short-listed for an Arthur Ellis crime writing award.

The Faithful was just as challenging to write as my first novel. Once again, I am grateful to my family, friends and the experts I consulted for their help along the way. They shared their knowledge with me, read the manuscript at various stages, or did both. I couldn’t have written The Faithful without them.
