Erin Alladin was born in Sault Ste. Marie and grew up in North Bay, Ontario. She spent most of her time among gardens, trees, and books, and planned to become an ecologist. When she realized she didn't enjoy math enough to take a science degree, Erin thought she would become a teacher and pass on her curiosity and wonder to children. When she developed chronic illness in her teens, she decided that literature held the key. Erin completed her undergraduate degree at Nipissing University and moved to Toronto for a year-long publishing program at Centennial College. That year turned into nine as Erin found work at a children's book publishing company and founded Garden@Kimbourne Community Permaculture Project to grow sustainable local food. Today Erin lives near Parry Sound, Ontario and continues to edit children's and adult literature—including some wonderful science books. She loves learning and teaching everything she can about gardening in harmony with the earth and with our bodies.
