Marty Monical

​Famous for his humorous, upbeat writing style and packing tremendous human connections into his stories, Marty Monical grew up in a small farming town near Chicago. His family boasted seventeen children and two houses -- yep you read that right -- to a Fulbright Scholar mother and a CPA-business-owner father. Marty developed a love of writing early in  school surpassed only by his penchant for traveling -- roaming the globe to his favorite hot spots in Mexico, Canada, Dominican Republic, the Caribbean Islands and Australia. 

​Marty published his first book Seventeen Little Miricals right out of college and appeared on The Jenny Jones Show with his entire family to promote it. He quickly optioned a screenplay based on that book to Imperial Entertainment.

Riding that first wave, Marty completed several screenplays and was hired to ghost write "Dirty Diapers,"  the dramedy story of the startup and rise of VMG and its founders who dared to create a diaper product to compete with Pampers. 

Marty created and produced thirteen episodes of the TV show Tell Me A Story, a talent show format where contestants told their best "story" and the audience voted for the winner. Soon after, Marty directed and co-produced One-Track Mind, a hilarious short written by the talented Thomas A. Jackson which won the Audience Choice Award at the Black Earth Film Festival. 

Marty collaborated with Tom again to write several projects, including Wannabe, a teenage action thriller, CU in 52, a young-adult love story, and S.O.L. (Sunshine Over Lincolnland) a low-budget, whimsical look at the zaniness of our political machine in America. 

His latest novel, The Parts We Share takes the prize as the project closest to his heart. The story is based on real events, but fictionalizes the drama surrounding his kidney donation to his brother. The family all pitched in to bring this effort to market. 

Marty also served as Manager for stellar teams at Comcast and affiliates for CBS, FOX, and NBC. In that span has co-wrote or collaborated on dozens of projects including TV scripts, commercials, and even songs.

Marty is married to his loving wife Kimberly and raised two daughters, all of whom are much smarter than he is....
