Mikhail V Chester Ph.D.

Chester is on the faculty of Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU). He is primarily interested in helping to advance our understanding of how we change infrastructure for accelerating, uncertain, volatile and complex conditions. He is director of ASU's Metis Center for Infrastructure and Sustainable Engineering, and leader of the Infrastructure Misfits (un)Society, groups that are focused on preparing infrastructure for the challenges of the next century. Chester manages research projects focused on climate adaptation, cybersecurity, governance, and agility of infrastructure, in cities across the world and on defense projects. He was awarded the American Society of Civil Engineer's 2017 Huber research prize for his work on infrastructure resilience.
