Something in my heart always pushed me to discover what I was destined to be. I feel I have already accomplished that by being a noble taxpayer, a devoted husband and father, friend, and brother. After many years of soul-searching...I found nothing else to add to my list of accomplishments.
My late mother-in-law (Who I affectionately nick-named, 'Shorty') was a huge fan of Star Trek, The Walking Dead, and many other fictional works I don't have the space (or patience to list here.) I had once mentioned to her, and to my son, that I always wanted to write a book. After my boy read the 'Harry Potter' series, he encouraged me to take on the task of writing my own novel, after I interpreted ideas for a story I dabbled with for almost 40 years. Shorty soon became my biggest cheerleader.
Before she passed, she made me promise that no matter what happens, I shouldn't give up on publishing the book. I kept my promise.
She passed on September 21st of 2016—one day after her 70th birthday. I'm not sure how far this will go, but I know she's smiling down on me.
"I'm a huge fan of fantasy/adventure and Sci-Fi. Movies like Star Wars and Terminator. Books like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. And I can't forget one of my all-time favorite authors, Stephen King. I haven't done enough to contribute to this country and my fellow citizens the way I always wanted to, But I hope this will help me help others with the struggles they face every day. My biggest weakness is watching children face diseases that threaten their lives. My own son suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 7. He's much better now, but watching him suffer and not enjoy life like other normal children has scarred my heart. But he's a really strong and smart kid. When I'm gone, he'll continue this series with the determination and love that I placed into this story. What seemed like an ending of one pioneer egging me to start a story, is only the beginning of a new chapter in my life.
Special thanks to Amber Star Ramirez for her book cover design.
Thank you, Vincent, for your concept designs of the Scepter.
