E.J.Medler was born in Brooklyn during WWII and grew up in the New Jersey suburbs in the 1950's. His parents were of Irish and Finnish descent. Always interested in the arts, E.J. graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a degree in Industrial Design. Following a 40 year career as designer and Design Director in the tradeshow exhibit industry, he opened a custom picture framing shop. That business took a hiatus as of early 2020 due to the Covid 19 shelter-in-place order. This gave him the time to do something he had wanted to do for some time; write the 'Great American Novel'.
He has written personal journals and essays for several years but never tried writing fiction. He took advantage of the free time he now had to write "The Captain and the Winery", his first novel. The story was drawn from and informed by the places he has lived, the people he has known or read about and his own creative imagination.
E.J. and his wife Barbara have been married 53 years, raised six wonderful children and are currently empty-nesters living in the Finger Lakes region of Western New York.
