Marco Driehuizen

Marco Driehuizen was born in South Africa and raised in The Netherlands. He holds an M Sc. degree in business economics and has worked in information technology for various international companies throughout his career. Next to this he writes short stories in English and Dutch, and he enjoys exploring island life and nature across the world. The last surviving Pinta tortoise Lonesome George in the Galapagos, all volunteers guiding the yearly red crab migration on Christmas Island, the local conservation efforts to save the Saint Helena Wirebird, and the restoration work of the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation on Ile aux Aigrettes have all been inspirations to his unusual charity project and book: The Last Dodo.

Marco Driehuizen has published one Dutch novel and several short stories. Short story Resurrection got longlisted on his UK debut. His first Dutch story De Wasmachine won both the jury’s and the readers’ choice award for literature at the Baarn cultural festival. The Last Dodo is his first English novel and marks his Mauritian and international debut.
