Dick Evans

Dick Evans is a San Francisco based photographer who has authored three contemporary documentary photography books about historical and changing neighborhoods in the city. The first featured the Haight Ashbury – the legendary home of the counter culture of the 1960’s – in the context of the surrounding greater Bay Area. The second focused on the Mission District – home to a burgeoning Latino population straining to maintain identity of its famous art (murals) and culture under extreme gentrification pressures. The third, co-authored with Kathy Chin Leong, takes a behind the scenes look at San Francisco’s 170-year old Chinatown. All three books have been philanthropic projects – with all revenues going to deserving community and Bay Area non-profits. The Mission won an Indie book finalist award in the photography division. When not taking photos, Dick is Chairman of the Board of Paris based and NYSE listed Constellium, a leading global supplier of advanced materials to industry, a Trustee of the Oregon State University Foundation and a Director of the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco.
