My name is Fritznel Elveus. I grew up in an orphanage in Haiti. I am an artist and a writer. I started drawing at a very young age. I was mostly inspired by and old man/artist who used to go and paint beautiful murals on the orphanage walls. It always fascinated me watching him painting therefore, I wanted to become like him when I grow up. I later developed a passion for writing children books. We as orphans were bullied by other children in our neighborhood because we lived at an orphanage, and I particularly was given the name Ti Kekey(tee-Kay-kay) which means Little Stick for been too skinny. As I got older, I realized that being called Ti Kèkèy and orphan was done out of ignorance. These names did not define me, and they did not bother me anymore. I even decided that if I ever wrote a children’s story, I would name the main character Ti Kèkèy. This is why the main character in my book THE GOAL OF MY LIFE is named Ti Kèkèy.
