Graeme D. Eddie

Graeme D. Eddie has study backgrounds in Scandinavian Studies (Swedish), International Relations, Linguistics, Defence Studies, and Information Science - variously at Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Glasgow (Strathclyde). He has worked, studied, and researched in Sweden, and has written on the country for the 'World Today', an international politics journal of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA), London. He has worked as a language teacher with the Folk University of Sweden (KV) in Helsingborg, studied at Linköping University, and researched at the Swedish Institute for International Affairs (UI) in Stockholm. He has also taught in Saudi Arabia with British Aerospace as a language teacher. Latterly he was a librarian/archivist at Edinburgh University Library (Heritage Collections) where, in retirement, and until the Covid-19 pandemic changed the lives of everyone, he had contributed time to profiling the Christian Salvesen archive of whaling and maritime history. His first published book was 'Swedish foreign policy, 1809-2019: A comprehensive modern history' (Peter Lang, 2020), which had grown out of a PhD (Aberdeen) achieved in the 1990s, and his second is 'Sweden's Pandemic Story: Covid-19, A Chronology 2020-23' (Peter Lang, 2026). However, he also co-compiled and co-assembled 'Bibliotheca Scandinavica', an exhibition catalogue, Edinburgh University Library, in 1997 (ISBN 0-907182-28-3). He has travelled widely in Sweden.

He is photographed here on the mountain Palassip Qaqqa, above Sisimiut, in western Greenland.
