J Lee Fleming

I am a native of Wisconsin, in the north-central United States, and this area is the setting and inspiration for my children's stories.

The first three books: Magic in the Leaves, (subtitle: a Boy in Wisconsin), Night Flying, and Tattler Tales are available in print and Kindle.

All of these stories are based on actual (positive) childhood experiences. "Magic" and "Night Flying" also have a strong element of the imaginary.

All three of these books are beautifully illustrated by my talented friend B J Gerdes.

Stories are designed to appeal to ages 4-8 for "Magic" and somewhat older for Night Flying". and " Tattler Tales". All books received positive comments from Kirkus Review. Our local paper did us the honor of articles in praise of Magic in the Leaves as well as a nice story about Tattler Tales. I do encourage you to consider print versions because of the beautiful art.

NOW IN THE WORKS:

A fourth book- "Dill"- is well along the way, and I hope to have it out by this fall. This story is set on a farm in the 1950s. It is a chapter book for children in mid-grade school. This time, the art is a blend of BJ Gerdes and my own photographic efforts. Everyone who has had an imaginary friend or who knows a child who has one should relate to this story.

We seek to truly entertain and engage young readers. And maybe educate a little in the process in the best possible way. Apologies for the cheesy alliteration.

Kirkus review excerpts:

NIGHT FLYING:

"A Midwestern child’s flights of fancy that are nicely grounded in childhood reality.
