Patricia Lee has lived for more than 3 decades on a small property in the idyllic Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia. Here she raises chickens, turkeys and ducks and grows daffodils while experimenting with other crops. Her blog: amundr@wordpress.com details her amusing and sometimes trying experiences farming poultry. The farm backs onto Australian native forest and it is this ever changing, vibrant environment which has given context to many of her nature poems.
A day job as a part-time school teacher of English has given Patricia a wonderful exposure to the heritage of literature and she is inspired by poets as diverse as Shakespeare and Les Murray or writers Michael Connelly and George Orwell.
After a divorce, providing for her three children as a full-time teacher prevented Patricia from pursuing a career as an author but has never prevented her writing. Small successes have been achieved since her novel 'History at My Fingertips' was published in 2002 such as poems and short stories being included in anthologies as well as some international prizes. Her major achievements, several long works of historical fiction set in Roman times and other novels, are yet to be published. Patricia is currently working through these other MSS and these will be published by her own publishing company Duck Farm Press (See www.duckfarmpress.com.au) Patricia is keen to see how her first foray into publishing on Amazon develops with her book of poetry and art: 'How to Smoke the Soul-Poetry for the Heart and Mind' released on October 19th, 2020. She is grateful to Amazon for providing a very well guided and free service for authors to set their works up for the democracy of public opinion to judge.
Follow up books are the first installment in a series 'The Island of Cats' a historical fiction set in a fictional Kingdom. She also has published this year a historical Biography of her great grandfather, Charles Frank Field, whose remarkable life over 10 decades is interspersed with the history of the places he lived in through documents and images.
Poems have the power to freeze emotions in time and Patricia hopes by publishing her poems, written over a twenty year period, to help others in troubled times to build resilience and seek healing in nature.
Patricia has remarried and her children are all adults, all of whom she is very proud. Her two young granddaughters and grandson have a special place in her heart! Her greatest inspiration is her mother, Una Clarke, who at 97, is still publishing novels. Thanks for your support: Mum, my husband, Hashim and all my lovely family. To any of my new readers out there, 'Welcome, Friends!
