Rita Margaret Trotman

I am an avid writer of both Memoir and Contemporary Women's Fiction. I write about everyday issues, but more specifically, I aim to highlight struggles and dark issues that often bubble under the surface of life. I am a champion of the underdog and always find a happy ending, however small.

Take Three Boys

This is the book closest to my heart. It is my memoir and introduces the reader to the plight of children in the early nineties in Romania. It is a roller coaster of emotions. It takes the reader from the horrors of one orphanage, to an insight into the lives of three of those orphans who have achieved a fulfilling adulthood, and claimed their place in society.

Being Kate

This is adult fiction. Kate's lifestyle is chaotic and her moral compass way off centre. From childhood until her thirties, life has rarely given her a break. But when her husband is killed, leaving her with two young children to raise, she sinks into a maelstrom of despair. Too soon she welcomes the 'perfect man' into her life. Jono represents everything Kate has dreamt of, exciting sex, compassion and friendship. But when she wants to build a future with him, the reality is very different. From the courtroom to the bedroom, this is not a book for the fainthearted!

The Way It Is

This is the story of Lottie and Tracey. They were never destined to meet and are polarised in every possible way. But they must set prejudice and preconception aside when their teenagers bring catastrophe into the heart of both families. The women tug at our heartstrings with their very different coping mechanisms. Both must learn to deal with loss. Two mothers, two stories, one heartache.
