Mr Roy Langford Tavenor

Roy Tavenor is a retail marketing fanatic who started his career as a soap salesman with Unilever.

He was born in South Africa and immigrated with his family to Australia in 1994.

With nearly 50 years of retailing and marketing experience, and a tendency to talk a lot, Roy was inspired to capture his ideas in his first book, Old Retail New Retail WTF?

In case you are wondering - WTF means "what's the future".

The book takes a practical look at the challenges faced by retailing, the world's largest industry, which is going through some major disruption and where many iconic brands of the past are in serious trouble.

The good news Roy brings is that retailing is not dying - merely changing.

Roy takes the reader on a semi-serious trip down memory lane, searching for the lessons of the past which can be applied successfully in the future.

When it comes to retailing, he should know what he is talking about. He has held senior management roles in large retailers and has been a co-founder of Australia's leading retail design agency, Red Design Group.

The agency also a team based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, which allows the author to add first hand knowledge of the retailing opportunities in the fast-growing S.E. Asian region.

This book has two aims - helping Old Retailers to transition to New Retail - and inspiring a new generation of young retail entrepreneurs to create business success.
