Dr. Cuan Wayne Coetzee is an experienced chiropractor specialising in family, pain, and sports healthcare, and the acclaimed author of the Amazon UK bestseller "WHY MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE" (2020). As a thought leader in his field, Dr. Coetzee combines his passion for movement with a deep understanding of pain management.
He is the innovative mind behind Neural Re-Education (NRE), an educational tool designed for patients to enhance their pain management and promote movement longevity. Detailed in his book, NRE integrates pain neuroscience education with treatment to empower patients to better understand and manage their pain and movement dysfunctions.
Dr. Coetzee’s clinical approach blends evidence-based chiropractic care with therapeutic techniques, offering patients a comprehensive and personalised path to improved health, enhanced function, and a better quality of life.
Besides having treated numerous Olympians and world class athletes, his real passion is embedded in family medicine, pain management, movement longevity, and journeying with anyone towards their personal health goals.
At 23, after six years of studying, he joined a private practice in East London (South Africa) as an associate and ultimately co-owned the practice for almost six years. During this time, he founded and trademarked his wellness coaching platform (@movemeduk).
At 29, he moved to London (United Kingdom) to expand the brand, and wrote his debut book WHY MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE. The book is a culmination of his life, his travels, many stories and his clinical and practical experience to date (2020).
The ideas and journaling for his book spanned over a decade, however it was only with his move to London (and a surprise pandemic) where he found the time to finally put fingers to keyboard. He credits God, his family, and his patients as inspiration for the book.
When he is not seeing patients in clinic or performing various wellness coaching sessions, you will most likely find him doing outdoor exercise, or dreaming up the next adventure with his wife Amy. These range from hiking and surfing road trips to visiting his family and nephews in Cape Town, South Africa.
As an athlete, he has been selected for four individual South African national teams and boasts the following personal running bests: 400m 48s, 800m 1m53s, 5km 15m30s, 10km 33min, Half marathon 1h19m. Marathon 2h59m. As a practitioner, he has won a World Cup medal as part of the England Indoor Cricket team.
Health begins with good movement habits and the MoveMed slogan, as you will find out, is "mood follows movement".
