Claire Bates

I live with my husband, children and guinea pigs. I started making stories up to tell to my children when we snuggle up in bed, because they always wanted more stories, even after having read a bedtime story to them. They loved the stories that I made up and asked me to write them so that they always had them. As I dutifully plodded down to the computer after putting them to bed, to record the story before I forgot it, I found my imagination was fired up further, and from this I wrote my first book, Baboon on the Moon. I was lucky enough to have this published.

I have found that I love making up childrens stories, and particularly when I can make them rhyme. I am continuing to write, in the hope that I will have further books published in the future.

I find losing myself in making up stories is great escapism from the real world, if only for a short time!
