My name is Joshua Allen Apel and I was born in a small town in Missouri. At the age of 21, I decided my life was going nowhere fast and let a friend talk me into seeing a US Army Recruiter. Fast forward to today and I have 15 years of service under my belt, two deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan, and all the baggage that goes with it! I have one book published called, "My Life in War: Did We Ever Really Leave" and it is a book based on a journal I kept on my 2nd deployment to Iraq. Unfortunately, I was wounded on that deployment and add that too several years of the Infantry Life, and I was medically retired from service. I have made the most out of my life, I am an aspiring poet, I am a crochet artist, I am also an advocate for Veteran Healthcare and Mental Health. But, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I have a beautiful wife and two amazing kids that at least act like they love each other.
My goals are simple; to live the best life I can, make fun memories for my kids and give as much as I can back to the military community.
