d′laurent was born in Illinois in 1958. From age five to age 37, he was constantly in school wherethrough he gained an ‘education.’ In Chicago at Northeastern Illinois University, he received a degree in literature, and a degree in film studies from Columbia College. He began his martial arts training at age 15 and has been a kung-fu coach for over 40 years. His astute ability to see obscure patterns and fragments of information tucked away in many disciplines as opposed to pursuing linear thought–which limits and binds–enables him to see potentialities hidden in data that others often overlook and so create full-bodied thought-provoking works of literature. Combining his love of the writer’s craft with global beliefs, particularly that of the Samurai, he wrote ‘The ’Halla’ Trilogy which includes ‘Valley of the Damned,’ ‘Cold Steel Eternity’ and ‘The Garden of the Dragons,’ epic poems reflecting high noble myth and the ponderings of the soul. ‘The Lady and the Samurai,’ semi-autobiographical in nature, concerns itself with the coming of age atwixt and betwixt the twining, thin, razory world of fencing, also wields a treasure trove of spiritual insight and self-empowering views to meditate upon. Believed to be mysteriously impenetrably inscrutable by many, ‘Martial Arts on Noah’s Ark,’ Valley’s forceful twin breaks all martial myth barriers and their hidden subtleties. This work, a hyper-analysis of martial words, thoughts and deeds, tracks the glistening pop-ideologies of the arts down to the family of Noah of Noah’s Ark fame and Genesis. This volume is exclusive, a very rarified and sterlingly unique ‘must read to believe’ composition not to be missed. The product of a 38-year study, Noah’s Martial Ark will give readers an education they are not likely to forget as it will paradigm their minds changing their life views once they discover the hidden strategic and tactical operations of what is going on behind the scenes of this planet. All the works of Laurent advance over hard terrain and are designed for self-scrutiny and strategic daily living. To sum: the volumes are brooding mirrors unto the soul eternal.
