Phyllis Matthews

Phyllis Michelle Matthews dedicates her life to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ, exemplifying deep devotion and a steadfast commitment to nurturing her spiritual relationship. As the fifth of nine children born to George and Jennie Watts, Phyllis brings a rich family background to her faith journey. Her 38-year marriage to Pastor Cedric D. Matthews, Sr., the esteemed senior pastor of Greater Church of God by Faith in Jacksonville, Florida, represents a partnership firmly grounded in faith. Phyllis has been actively involved in the church community, leading the Women's Ministry for thirty years and serving as Lay Elder of Worship for two decades. Her roles further highlight her unwavering commitment as a Sunday school teacher, children's church aide, secretary for the new members class, and usher. Additionally, Phyllis has dedicated several years to teaching at the denominational level, underscoring her devotion to her calling.

Mrs. Matthews experiences profound satisfaction in her married life and takes great pride in raising her two sons, Cedric II and Cephas. Beyond her family responsibilities, she is dedicated to nurturing the personal and spiritual growth of others as they seek a deeper relationship with God. In her quest to fulfill divine purposes, Phyllis frequently draws inspiration from a passage that resonates with her: Philippians 3:10, "That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death."

Phyllis is a distinguished author and composer. Her first literary work, "I Don't Want to Be a Pastor's Wife," was published in 2014. In 2016, she released her musical composition, "I Don't Have the Right." Her literary contributions continued with the launch of her second book, "No Dumb Girls Allowed," in October 2020, followed by her third publication, "Worship Wars," in January 2022. That same year, she also introduced her musical single, "All Praise."
