Rich Holden is an innovative designer, scientist, and "connector of dots." He earned a joint PhD in psychology and industrial engineering and two master's degrees.
He taught and studied design for health and healthcare at the University of Wisconsin, Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), and Vanderbilt University before moving to Indiana, where he is a professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine and scientist at the world-renown Regenstrief Institute. He is also the Chief Healthcare Engineer at the Center for Health Innovation and Implementation Science and consults for organizations seeking to improve healthcare.
Rich Holden's areas of expertise include human-centered design, aging and chronic disease, and technology for health and healthcare. He has worked on these topics across over 20 federally sponsored projects, totaling over $75 million, and has published over 150 articles, books, and book chapters.
His latest book is The Agile Network, which describes how an Agile approach resulted in $1B in savings to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
