Jesse Batista

My name is Jesse Batista and I am a native Floridian. I was born March 11, 1994 into a situation that was less than desirable and I prefer to just leave it at that. I was given a new start at life when I was 13 years old. It was this new start that introduced me to journal writing and music. My love of music transformed into lyric writing and poetry. I am also a musician and have recorded some music but, poetry is something that I have only just started allowing the public to read. Much of what I write has a heavy dark overtone due to my past but, on occasion, the light of contentment shines through. Writing and other forms of art, including drawing, painting and photography, have helped me find my way through the harder moments in my life. Just about everything I write is of a personal nature. Art is therapeutic and I hope in the end, what I write will help others feel less alone.
