I've always been fascinated with the Pilgrims of the Mayflower and how they scratched out a living in a New World with their own two hands. No machines, no electricity - just hard work.

I found myself;

- Reading everything I could find about them.

- Building models of the Mayflower. And touring Mayflower II in the harbor.

- Repeatedly visiting Plymouth, Massachusetts and the Plimoth Plantation replica village.

- Hiking Cape Cod to visit the actual locations Like Pilgrim Springs where the Pilgrims first

found fresh drinking water or where they first encountered the local Nauset tribe. (It didn't

go well).

- Then writing and illustrating this book for 2 years.

There are only two or three sentences about Johnny Billington getting lost in the official records of the Pilgrims. I used my "creative license" to fill in the blanks and bring his story to life because I'm sure that his adventure meant a whole lot more to The Lost Pilgrim Boy than a few sentences.
