Carroll S. Taylor

Carroll S.Taylor grew up on a dirt road in West Georgia. As a child, she loved wild critters, especially snakes, lizards, frogs, and turtles. After graduating from Tift College, she became a teacher and taught for over forty years. Writing is a way for her to combine two of her favorite pastimes: reading books and learning about nature. After moving to North Georgia, she now finds ideas for her novels and poetry in nearby meadows, streams, lakes, and mountains. Sometimes her inspiration comes to her on two, four, six, or eight legs. She often writes about animals that creep or crawl!

As a grown-up (mostly), Carroll still loves critters. Well, except scorpions. She stays away from them!

She enjoys feeding crows that come to visit her yard every morning. The crows receive treats, while she watches the crows and learns about them. It’s a win-win for everybody!

She is the author of two young adult novels, Chinaberry Summer and Chinaberry Summer: On the Other Side. Both books encourage readers to show kindness and respect for all creatures, like birds, reptiles, amphibians, spiders—and humans!

She lives in Hiawassee, Georgia, with her husband and their calico cat Peaches, who rules the house.
