Betsy O'Neill-Sheehan

Betsy O'Neill-Sheehan is often confused for a unicorn (expected to do magical things.) Although she comes close to magical, she is actually a 17-year professional elementary school counselor/social worker. Her work with children is dedicated to giving them a foundation of social-emotional skills.

Her work, AGI & THE THOUGHT COMPASS, gives children the tool of a thought compass to recognize if thoughts are imagined or real, helpful or not helpful. When children can recognize what kind of thought they have, they can plan what to do with it. Illustrated by the visual thinker, Manuel Herrera, there is so much room for great social-emotional learning conversations.

Grace O'Malley - The Queen of the Sea is a book written and illustrated by Betsy under her full name, Elizabeth O'Neill-Sheehan. It tells the biographical story of her great, great (so many greats) ancestor, the pirate and woman chieftain, Grace O'Malley. Told in lyric form, it's a book that is bound to be sung.
