Julie Ryan McGue

Julie Ryan McGue is an American author whose work spans memoir, essay, and children’s literature. A domestic adoptee, identical twin, mother, widow, and grandmother, Julie examines identity, family, belonging, and the ways love and loss transform us. She is the award winning author of three works of nonfiction: Twice a Daughter: A Search for Identity, Family, and Belonging (2021), Belonging Matters: Conversations on Adoption, Family, and Kinship (2023), and Twice the Family: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Sisterhood (2025). She launched her children’s book series: Let’s Go with Lulu with the release of Jack and Lulu Go to the Tree Farm (2025). Julie believes in writing that heals, uplifts, reminding us that finding our place in the world is a lifelong adventure. She divides her time between northwest Indiana and Sarasota, Florida, where she writes, hikes, and enjoys adventures both on and off the tennis court.
