John Gill

Born, and still living in, the former coal mining areas of West Yorkshire, John Gill is a street and documentary photographer specialising in showing life in the local area.

After the Coal Dust was released in 2020 in various formats, and Retro, a retrospective of his 40 years in photography, was released in 2024.

Several volumes of his work "ONE", "TWO" and "100 FACES" have been published by PPH in Italy.

Together with his wife Bridget, their images from the "After the Coal Dust" project have been exhibited several times in the north of England and internationally.

He speaks regularly on the photography circuit, both online and in person.

He lives with Bridget, his daughter Freya, and their whippet Wilfred.

His novel 'The Reader and the Writer' was originally written in the early 2000's but was never released. Newly edited, it was released on Amazon in November 2026
