Writing is not what I set out to do in life. How's that for a catch phrase on an author bio page? I started my career as a Physical Education teacher/coach. I gave all that up to be a domestic engineer and have never regretted that decision one bit. I spent 25 years as a devoted wife and mother of two wonderful boys. At age 49, a friend of mine suggested we go hike the Appalachian Trail. In 2015 my husband dropped me off at the trail head in Georgia and I began my trek home, to Maine. It took me six months. I kept a blog hosted by a local newspaper and then turned my notes into, not just one book but three, a children's book with an accompanying companion book and a memoire. I also created my own personal blog and website, EmilysEscapades.com where I spin ordinary life adventures into little life lessons. I liked hiking the Appalachian Trail so much I did it again in 2017 with the friend who suggested we do it in the first place. Writing just seemed to be the thing to do. It gives me great pleasure to share my stores and experiences.
