Judy M. Baker

Judy M. Baker is the creator of the Buzzworthy Book Experience. She helps nonfiction authors attract more readers, connect with clients, get book reviews, and leave an enduring legacy. Authors who want to make an impact long after a book launch come to Judy for sustainable strategies.

Her writing appears in anthologies published by Redwood Writers Press, and the Napa Valley Writers. After a diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2013, writing was part of her healing journey. Emotion and dreams weave into her poetry, short stories, and memoir. Her life lessons are the foundation of a memoir/guidebook to help women with ovarian cancer thrive—planned for release in 2023. She also plans to release a nonfiction book about personal branding for authors in 2023.

She rediscovered her affinity for writing almost by accident while helping one of her clients through the publishing process.

Judy M. Baker, a native of San Diego, California, the youngest of four girls. A voracious reader from the age of four, her happiest memories are trips to the library with her father, where she would take home an armful of books. She wrote, illustrated, typeset, and published a collection of her poems in high school. In publishing her book, she took a stand to break the gender barrier for female students in the classroom. She worked at the San Diego Public Library as an undergraduate at San Diego State University. Her passion for words flowed into a B.A. in Dramatic Arts. Following her dreams of acting, she moved to San Francisco in the 1970s to audition for A.C.T.

She moved to the Valley of the Moon and worked for Robert Mondavi Winery. After earning a master's degree in Organization Development and Human Resources from the University of San Francisco, Judy became the first director of Human Resources for Sutter Home Winery.

Judy formed a non-profit for people in career transition before becoming a pioneer in the home-based business world. Changing career directions, she used creative skills to build her graphic design and marketing business.

A frequent podcast guest and speaker, Judy is past president of Redwood Writers, the largest of the 22 chapters of the California Writers Clubs. She co-chaired the Grand Authors Group, a part of the Grand Connection. She lives in the Valley of the Moon, close to Jack London State Park, one of her favorite places to hike. She finds pleasure in being outdoors, and sampling wine, food, and music.

She is the founder of the Buzzworthy Book Experience and Book Marketing Mentor.
