Jeni Neill

It wasn't long ago that the author started a creative writing course in Norwich, England, after being inspired by her youngest daughter's university open day. She had an idea of the story she had wanted to tell for many years, but it had lots of gaps and she couldn't imagine it fully at that time. But, rather magically, she began 'the writing process' and it felt rather good and natural. Jeni Neill is a pen name which came in a moment of consideration and stuck securely. The Devil's Dye was born!

These photographs show just a few of the important elements of this debut novel. It features gorgeous, leggy Great Danes (although they cannot be referred to by that name as they were known as Chamber Dogs when the book is set). Rich East Anglian history is maintained within monastery ruins and well preserved Tudor houses, the bridges and stories of the past. The author found the minute amount of years (in historical terms) between two intriguing historical events of East Anglia too much of a 'connection' to be overlooked. In her mind, the Strangers and Black Shuck have been wanting their story to be shared for far too long.
