Paul Meier

Paul works as an independent consultant, having retired from ConocoPhillips in 2008 after 30 years of service. From 2008-2014, he was a clean fuels consultant for Sinopec, the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation. He has also consulted with ConocoPhillips, ADI Analytics (in Houston), and Chevron.

In addition to consulting, he also devotes his professional time to exploring renewable and nonrenewable energy (see Paulfmeier.com), which resulted in the publication of “The Changing Energy Mix.”

Another activity he enjoys in retirement is writing illustrated children’s books focusing on the joys of spending life with a dog (see Martydawg.com). His books center on the family pet, from her delightful mischief around the house to her adventures joining the family on their road trip to National Parks and Monuments around the country. The stories are inspired by his real life dog Marty, an SPCA rescue, and the love she gave his family over the years.

Paul grew up in St. Louis and attended the University of Arkansas, earning a B.S. degree in Chemistry. Following this, he attended Rice University on a Welch Foundation Fellowship and received an M.A. in Physical Chemistry in 1978 and a PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1979. He is a registered professional engineer, receiving certification for Chemical Engineering in 1993 in Oklahoma, and where he currently lives.

Besides writing children’s books, his other passions include tennis, windsurfing, SCUBA diving, cycling, backpacking, language studies (Chinese, French, and German), piano, and stained glass.
