My mane is Jocelyn Covington. I am a single parent of two beautiful children. I was born in Decatur, Ga but raised in Jacksonville, FL. I own two businesses called 2SLEEKK and 2SLEEKK fur slides, and I am also a partner in another company as well. Driven is the first book of four. I wrote this series of books because I wanted to shed a better light on African American women. I wanted the world to look at us as more than statics, ghetto, loud, and other crazy things I have heard. I had to prove them wrong, I have been told that I would not be who I have grown to be today or that I would struggle the rest of my life or that no one would ever really love me. Crazy thing is, I always saw myself as a star and different from the rest. I was pregnant with my son and I could not work, I was seeing six different doctors for six different things. It was really a depressing time because I felt so alone. God placed this in my heart to share my thoughts and I did just that. To put myself to use I decide to write. I have dealt with many struggles in my life from trying to find love in all the wrong places or dealing with things and people that I had no business. I watched my mom run a business and still be my go to when I needed her to. Growing up my father was not in the picture so I had to learn fast about many things when it came to love. Writing this book was like a fantasy to me that you can have it all. You can be a boss, a mother, a wife, and still have that person who loves you apologetically without all the extra stuff. All of these characters have some of me in them and maybe even some of you. Also, to let women of any nationality know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. You do not have to be stuck in your position. People say you cannot have it all, but you CAN.
