For over 25 years Dr. Dan Mikeska was the owner of NOVA Medical Exercise – a fitness studio dedicated to helping clients control, minimize, and even overcome chronic disease through fitness. He’s also the creator of the Medical Exercise Academy which specializes in educating health and fitness professionals on the effects of exercise on chronic disease. He has a master’s degree in Human Movement and a doctorate in Health Science, and teaches graduate Kinesiology classes for A. T. Still University
Dr. Mikeska holds numerous certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the American Council on Exercise, the Cancer Exercise Training Institute, and Exercise is Medicine. He became interested in fitness as a means to improve in martial arts, and he holds belts or instructor ranks in Jeet Kune Do Concepts, Combat Submission Wrestling, American Sport Karate, and is a Universal and United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee. He is on the Medical Exercise Review Board for the Cancer Exercise Training Institute as well as the Industry Advisory Council for American Public University System’s Sports and Health Science program.
As the author of numerous published articles on metabolic conditioning programs for martial artists, the scope of practice for fitness trainers, and the state of online education and medical exercise, he’s recognized as one of the top educators on fitness and chronic disease.
