Neeraj Joshi

Picture a young boy in the Himalayan foothills, writing stories by candlelight while monsoon rains drum against the windows. That boy was me, Neeraj Joshi. And, I've never really stopped chasing that same magical feeling when words on a page become doorways to everywhere.

My journey has taken some unexpected turns. The mountains of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand didn't just give me a childhood; they gave me a soul that still finds peace in morning mists and wisdom in ancient peaks. Even now, when I'm stuck on a plot twist or searching for the perfect bedtime story ending, I close my eyes... and I'm back there, breathing mountain air full of pine trees, remembering that the best stories, like the best views, are worth the climb.

Life pulled me into engineering, then to a business school. I became an entrepreneur and a management consultant...you know, those in suits, spreadsheets, and boardrooms. Good at it, too. But here's the thing about stories: they don't care about your day job. They wake you at 3 AM. They whisper during meetings. They absolutely refuse to be ignored.

So I stopped ignoring them.

My spy thrillers (The Golden Triangle, The Ghost Who Walked) were born from late-night news obsessions and too many "what if" questions. I wanted to write the kinds of books that made readers miss their train, or check their locks twice before bed.

But then something beautiful happened. I became a father, and suddenly I was that boy with the candle again, only now I was creating magic for tiny humans with enormous imaginations. My children's books (The Christmas Wishkeeper and Bedtime Stories with Values) come from those precious moments when my daughter asks, "Tell me a story, Papa," and her eyes get that sparkle that makes everything else in the world fade away.

You know what's funny? The meditation practice I started to handle consultant life stress became another doorway. Years of studying Eastern philosophy, sitting in silence, questioning everything, it all started flowing onto pages, too. These spiritual writings aren't preachy guides; they're more like conversations with a friend who's walked a few steps ahead on the path and wants to share what the view looks like from there.

People ask me how I write such different things...spies and Santa, consciousness and thrillers. The truth? They're all the same story, really. They're all about connection. The spy is trying to save the world, the child is believing in magic, and the seeker is looking for meaning. They're all trying to bridge the gap between who they are and who they could be.

When I write, I think about you...yes...you, reading this right now. Maybe you're a parent looking for stories that will make bedtime special. Maybe you're on a plane, needing escape. Maybe you're searching for something deeper, though you can't quite name it yet. I write for all the versions of you, because I've been all the versions of me.

My wife jokes that I live multiple lives - entrepreneur, consultant by day, storyteller by night, philosopher at dawn. My daughter thinks I have the coolest job ever because I "make stuff up for work." They're all right. But mostly, I'm just someone who believes stories can change us, heal us, thrill us, and remind us that magic isn't just for children.

Every story I write carries a piece of that boy in the mountains, still writing by candlelight, still believing that words can light up the darkness. Whether it's a pulse-pounding thriller or a gentle bedtime tale, I'm really just passing that candle to you, hoping you'll find your own light in these pages.

So welcome to my world, or rather, welcome to our worlds. Because the moment you open one of my books, they stop being mine and start being yours. That's the real magic trick, isn't it? A writer plants seeds, but readers grow the gardens.

Come on in. The stories are waiting, and trust me, they've been waiting just for you.

With warmth and wonder,

Neeraj
